Programming
Paula prides herself on writing code that is robust, reliable and reusable thus ensuring a high quality solution that does what it is supposed to and is easy to maintain. She specializes in PHP programming for websites and has programmed in a number of different languages over the years including Java, C++, C, Pascal and PL/1.

Paula creates custom sites as well as sites that use third-party software solutions such as the Joomla! content management system and MovableType blog platform. She has worked with various shopping cart solutions including osCommerce and has developed custom payment solutions using the Authorize.net payment gateway and Paypal payment system. She is able to evaluate third-party solutions for clients and advise on implementation and customization.

Databases
Paula specializes in MySQL database design and programming. She is an experienced SQL programmer and has previously used a variety of other database platforms including DB2, Oracle, SQL Server and Access.

Web Pages and Design
Paula hand-codes her HTML and CSS stylesheets to ensure efficient display of web pages. She ensures that a site is easy to navigate and has a clear, consistent interface. Her programming background enables her to build custom javascript functionality into a website.

For web/graphic design, Paula collaborates with digital media consultant, Ian Curry of fancification.com or can work with a client's own designer.

Background and Education
After graduating from Oxford University with a degree in Physics, Paula joined IBM in the UK where she worked for nine years on a broad range of projects including object-oriented, database and distributed applications. Following her move to the USA, Paula obtained a diploma in 'Advanced Web and Business Programming' from the Chubb Institute, NY.
