Programming
Paula prides herself on writing code that is robust, reliable and reusable thus ensuring a high quality solution that does what it is supposed to and is easy to maintain. She specializes in PHP programming for web sites and has programmed in a number of different languages over the years including Java, C++, C, Pascal and PL/1.

Paula creates both custom sites and sites that use third-party software solutions such as the Joomla! content management system, MovableType blog and various shopping cart solutions. She is able to evaluate third-party solutions for clients and advise on implementation and customization.

Databases
Paula is an experienced SQL programmer and has used a variety of database platforms including MySQL, Access, SQL Server, Oracle and DB2.

Website Design
Paula hand-codes her HTML and CSS stylesheets to ensure efficient display of web pages. She ensures that a site is easy to navigate and has a clear, consistent interface. Her programming background enables her to build robust javascript functionality into a web site.

For web/graphic design, Paula collaborates with digital media consultant, Ian Curry of fancification.com or can work with a client's own designer.

Background and Education
After graduating from Oxford University with a degree in Physics, Paula joined IBM in the UK where she worked for nine years on a broad range of projects including object-oriented, database and distributed applications. Following a move to the USA, Paula obtained a diploma in 'Advanced Web and Business Programming' from the Chubb Institute, NY.
